Norway’s team celebrated with thousands lining the streets
Norway’s national team was cheered by around 90,000 fans as they paraded through central Oslo in an open-top bus on Monday night. The journey began just after 10 p.m. and arrived at City Hall Square close to 11:40 p.m. Last result: Norway 1-2 England (2026-07-11). The squad had just met the royal family at the Palace before setting off on the slow ride through the city.
What happened during the bus parade?
The bus crawled along so the players could soak in the sights. Police were on hand with multiple units, and officers in the bus’s upper deck waved their arms to keep the players seated for safety. Julian Ryerson took on the role of drummer, posting on Instagram: «Havaianas 4 life» — a nod to his flip-flop greeting for King Harald earlier that evening.
Erling Braut Haaland and Sander Berge were not on the bus. The duo had already flown south to Italy. Recent form (last 5): 3 wins, 0 draws, 2 losses (LLWWW) — the two defeats came in the last two matches.
Why were there so many fans?
Thousands lined the route from the Palace to City Hall Square. Police told Dagbladet they had to see the task through, even though the trip lasted over an hour and a half. Operations leader Bjarne Pedersen said: «We do our job until it’s done.»
Crown Prince Haakon, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus were among those greeting the players at the Palace. Ståle Solbakken, the national team coach, was also present during the reception.
What’s next for Norway?
Norway’s next fixture is a home match against Denmark on September 24, 2026. With two losses in a row and a recent record of 3 wins, 0 draws, 2 losses in the last five games, the mood is set for a fresh start under the post-parade buzz.
