Norway national football team has had five very valuable training sessions at the national arena before Scotland visits Oslo. Team vice-captain Stefan Strandberg is, however, disappointed with the conditions on the pitch. - It should have been better, Strandberg tells Nettavisen during the team's press conference on Wednesday. The EM qualification match on Saturday will be decisive for the team's fate. The pitch is not in good condition, according to Strandberg. - It's not Wembley, but it's good enough to do what needs to be done, says teammate Sander Berge to Nettavisen. Erik Forgaard is the managing director of AS Ullevaal stadion and Ullevaal stadion Idrett AS, which manages the national arena. He has been presented with Strandberg's statements ahead of the Scotland match, but believes it is not a discussion about the current state of the pitch. - If someone thinks things can be better, that's okay. It's the players who know this best, but we get good feedback from the team manager, he tells Nettavisen. ## Strandberg: – It's disappointing The EM qualification match on Saturday will be played at Norway's national arena, an arena where few football matches are played. The pitch has been a hot topic since the cup final between Lillestrøm and Brann. New pictures of Ullevaal create reactions before the cup final The pitch had large and visible holes, and despite the weather and drainage system making the pitch much better, it is still a long way from being in good condition, according to Strandberg. Before the team was gathered on Monday this week, a delegation of team players trained in Lillestrøm, where the natural grass seemed to be in perfect condition. Strandberg does not hide what he thinks about the conditions on Ullevaal not being better, given that the arena is only a 20-minute drive away from Lillestrøm where everything is in perfect order. - It's disappointing, he tells Nettavisen during the team's press conference. Forgaard explains that the pitch at Åråsen has artificial grass embedded in the natural grass, which provides much better conditions. - The pitch team at Ullevaal stadion does everything they can every day to get the pitch in the best possible condition for the national team matches, but the daily training sessions before the matches make the pitch wear out. This is a choice that has been made, that the training sessions are held at Ullevaal, he says. ## Har sagt ifra: – Synes det er for dårlig As the home team, they have the advantage of training on the match arena for the entire week leading up to the match, but the conditions on the Ullevaal pitch have made the training week even better, according to Strandberg. He has aired his frustration within the team. - I have told some in the support staff what I think. I think it's too bad. It's two decisive national team matches, and the conditions should have been better, Strandberg says when asked if he has brought up the issue with the federation. – What are the answers you have received? - Those I have spoken to have not had an answer to that. They have been as disappointed as me. It's not much we can do with that, we have to deal with the conditions we have.
