Norway national football team has a 77% chance of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, according to Norwegian Tipping's odds. This is a significant improvement from earlier, when the odds were 1.35 (74.07%) before the match between Israel and Italy. The odds were adjusted downward by 0.05 after Italy's 1-0 win, making it a 77% chance for Norway to progress. The reason for this is the goal difference. Norway currently has a +11 goal difference, while Italy has a +5. This could be decisive, and it's unlikely that Norway will secure a World Cup spot before they've done their job in the final qualifying match against Italy at San Siro. The chance of Norway already being qualified before the Italy-Norway match is relatively small. Both teams have a similar schedule, but Norway has a slight advantage with only home games before the decisive away match against Italy. The goal difference between Norway and Italy over the next three matches will be of great importance, says Tor Kristian Hansen, odds setter at Norwegian Tipping. If the goal difference swings in favor of Italy to a greater extent than it is now, the final match away against Italy could be very exciting. As it stands now, Italy would need to beat Norway by three goals for Norway not to go directly to the World Cup. If you had gone out to random Norwegians on the street and asked if Norway would qualify for the World Cup, most would have answered with a resounding 'yes'. The wave doesn't carry the national team players along. – I'll be honest, I'm not particularly worried about Norway's chances of qualifying for the World Cup, says Ståle Solbakk, Norway's national team coach. – We have a good group and good players, and we believe in ourselves. We won't give up until we've done our best.
